Fate wraps us about its cruel fingers, playing a vicious game with hope
We are not writers, artists or poets
We are not performers destined to grace the stage and gain adoration
How could we ever believe fate had planned such marvels for us?
How could hope misguide us so?

Fate wraps us about its cruel fingers, plotting our lives with malicious intent
We are slaves to the world, to society and to expectation
We are victims of a continuously repeating thread
How could fate be so cruel?
How could we allow our souls to become so lost?

Fate plays no part in our destiny, it watches on with a saddened eye
It can create no writers, artists nor poets
It can write no grand narratives to be glorified on the stage
How could we allow fate to die?
How did we let society erase our destiny?

We wrap ourselves about misguided fingers, blinded by duty
We are each writers, artists and poets
We are each performers on the grandest of stages
How did we forget our destiny?
How did we become so lost?
At it's heart, this is basically a commentary on how we allow myriad things to disuade us from the paths we want to follow, artistic in nature in my case (counting writing as art, that is). Whether it be your own self confidence, the crushing weight of a full schedule (work, college, etc), or whatever other factors, it's easy to let these things stand in the way of pursuing dreams or ambitions, and there's nothing so easy as to just let yourself believe it's not in fate's plans for you to follow that path.

My my, that all sounds far more petentious written out than I intended XD.

Very clever poem I enjoyed every thrilling second of reading it...That doesn't happen often! My only regret is not spotting this sooner.
